So a friend of mine said, "Post more pictures you idiot!" Okay she didn't call me an idiot but I totally got the message and decided to take my phone along with me on my run today.
First, I wanted to show you guys the short hill I do some of my workouts on.
Almost exactly half a mile from my front door, this is the bottom half of the hill. It sort of plateaus for a few meters crossing some railroad tracks then heads up again. Looks sort of flat here, but it ain't.
This about the halfway point and the last 50 meters are actually the steepest. I also like that the road winds on me while I'm pushing up it. Sort of plucks my mental nerves some so I like it.
From here, I kept going straight on this road, across the main street in Midlothian then over to the middle school track where I do those lovely intervals.
And here it is. About 8/10s of a mile from my front door to the start/finish line so that's a decent warm up each morning. Today I circled the track then back up to the main road to follow my normal route. Here I found a little trail off to the side that I've never gone down because it's always dark as crap at 5:30 in the morning. I shouldn't have bothered, though. It was a dead end and I ran through three different spider webs.
From here I just ran through neighborhoods and all then down a long street that I call the Queensgate Climb. Queensgate is a 1.2 mile uphill road. Very nice.
I threw in a running self portrait right there, did you catch that?
From there I wound back through another neighborhood and came across a guy who's car had broken down. I was at mile 9 and pushed a car up over a curb with the dude to get it out of the road. Cross Training baby!
Another couple of miles later I got home. I had to stop my watch for a couple of the pictures, and the car thing, but it was a good long run.
Thanks for coming along!
I feel like I'm running with you....up & down the hills. Puke! Made me tired. I laughed out loud with your BRIGHT self-portrait.
ReplyDeleteIf I tried harder I'm sure I could find a brighter shirt. Actually, I really want a bright pink one. Any ideas?
